The Thanksgiving holiday can be boiled down to three Fs. Family, friends, and food. But let’s be real here for a hot minute, we are all about the food.

The United States is a big country, and it turns out Thanksgiving dish preferences can vary wildly based on where you live, or where your family grew up. New recipes are added as families grow and combine, or as dietary habits change. It’s an ever-evolving menu.

A new study by House Method looked at Google Trends to discover each state’s most searched for Thanksgiving recipe—both savory and sweet—and the results are interesting.

Savory dishes

Looks like Georgian’s really love some honey baked ham, but they may be the only ones.

Four states’ most searched for savory dish was—and prepare yourselves, this is a bit of a shocker—salad. Salad on Thanksgiving? Hang your heads in shame Minnesota, Arizona, New York, and Illinois.

And now for the sweet stuff

There’s always room for dessert, especially on Thanksgiving. On the sweeter side, only one state is hooked on apple pie, but can you guess which one? Also, we may need to make a road trip to Maine to see what these things are all about …

So there you have it. Now settle into that food coma and let the football drone away as you get sleepier and sleepier and sleepier … and then enjoy the leftovers all over again tomorrow.

But please do be wary of Brown Friday.
